CDS Exam Pattern for IMA, INA & AFA

• In UPSC CDS, 03 question papers are conducted in the exam of IMA (Indian Military Academy), INA (Indian Naval Academy) & AFA (Indian Air Force Academy).
• The first question paper is English, the second question paper is on General Knowledge, and the third question paper is on Elementary Mathematics.
• Each question paper carries 100 marks. All the three question papers together carry a total of 300 marks.
• The time allotted to solve each question paper is 02 hours.

• In UPSC CDS, 02 question papers are conducted in the OTA (Officers Training Academy) exam.
• In which the first question paper is of English, the second question paper is on General Knowledge.
• Each question paper carries 100 marks. The total marks of both the question papers together are 200 marks.
• The time allotted to solve each question paper is 02 hours.

UPSC CDS Interview

Candidates are selected for Interviews based on marks obtained in the exam. The total marks for interview of Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy is 300 marks, while 200 marks are allotted for interview of OTA.

There are two stages in the SSB interview. There are two stages in the SSB interview. Stage – 01 and Stage – 02. Candidates who qualify for the Stage 1 exam will be called for Stage 2.

Stage – 01: This stage consists of an OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating) test consisting of Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT). Candidates are shortlisted as per their performance in OIR Test and PP & DT.

Stage – 02: Only the candidates who pass stage 01 are called for this stage. This part consists of Group Testing Officer Task Interview, Conference, and Psychology Tests. These tests are conducted over four days.

• In this test, 0.83 marks are allotted for each question in English, and 0.27 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
• 0.83 marks are allotted for each question in the General Studies subject of the examination, and 0.27 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
• One mark is allotted for each question in Mathematics, and 0.33 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
• If seen as a whole, there is a provision of negative marking in this examination. For your wrong answer, one-third (1/3) mark of a correct answer for a correct answer in that subject will be deducted.
